The Russian Embassy in France on Tuesday, May 27, expressed outrage over the decision to commute the sentence of one of the attackers of the Russian Consulate General in Marseille.

"The decision of the French court of Appeal to commute the sentence against a French citizen who committed a terrorist attack against the Russian Consulate General in Marseille on February 24 this year, together with his accomplice, cannot but cause deep indignation," the diplomatic mission told TASS.

The embassy noted that in this regard, one of the attackers was actually completely released from punishment for a serious crime. The ministry called the relevant decision a direct encouragement of attacks on Russian diplomatic and consular institutions in the state.

Earlier that day, La Figaro newspaper reported that the French Court of Appeal had commuted the sentence of one of the attackers who attacked the Russian Consulate General in Marseille on February 24. As a result, the defendant was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
