The AFD called the lifting of restrictions on the range of weapons dangerous for Ukraine

Lifting the range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine is a very dangerous idea. This was announced on May 27 by Alice Weidel, co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

"Lifting the range limitation of Western weapons in the conflict in Ukraine is dangerous. It is necessary to avoid everything that leads to escalation," Weidel wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

She also added that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz should not turn the country into a participant in this conflict.

It does not have complete analogues of the HIMARS-type MLRS, and the EU countries do not intend to share tanks.

On May 26, Merz announced that Britain, France, Germany and the United States had lifted range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine. He noted that this decision is aimed at giving Ukraine the opportunity to attack targets in Russia.

In turn, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on May 27 that European countries continue to supply weapons to Ukraine, and this is an indirect participation in the conflict against Russia. According to him, these actions do not contribute in any way to the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
