Lut did not rule out a larger grain harvest in Russia compared to 2024

The grain harvest in 2025 in the Russian Federation may exceed the figures of the previous year. This was announced on May 27 by the Minister of Agriculture of Russia Oksana Lut.
According to her, despite the recurrent frosts in April and May, the current situation in the fields is assessed as stable. However, there are already signs of drought in some regions of southern Russia.
"The oppression of plants began in the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov region. We really hope for the rains, they will help us. But in general, with favorable, good weather, we should harvest more than last year," the head of the department said at the final meeting of the board of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.
According to the minister, spring sowing is currently in an active phase. The projected acreage will increase by 1 million hectares to 84 million hectares.
On the same day, Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, said that the 2025 sowing campaign had already covered 75% of the planned areas, and the limits of state support had been brought to the regions. He also recalled the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase grain production to 170 million tons by 2030.
