More than 300 civilians in the border areas of the Kursk region died after the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on May 27 by the prosecutor of the region Alexey Tsukanov at the round table "Kursk region is an outpost of Russia, preserving historical memory and truth."

"313 civilians were killed in the once peaceful, prosperous territory of our region," TASS quoted Tsukanov as saying.

According to the prosecutor, 794 people, including 26 children, suffered from the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk border region.

He also said that more than 17.5 thousand houses were damaged in the Kursk region. In total, over 550 crimes committed by Ukrainian militants were recorded in the region.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6 last year. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency.

On April 26, the head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, reported on the liberation of the last Kursk village of Gornal from the Ukrainian Armed Forces to Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, the total losses of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk area amounted to more than 76 thousand people. The Head of State congratulated and thanked the personnel of the military units of the Russian Armed Forces who took part in the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
