Russians have spent a record amount on new cars

In April, Russians spent a record amount in 2025 on the purchase of new passenger cars. Compared to March, it increased by 31.3% and amounted to 325.7 billion rubles. This was reported on May 27 by TASS with reference to a study by Gazprombank Autoleasing and the analytical agency Autostat.

The share of Chinese cars in the structure of financial capacity was 57.8%. Next in April's expenses are domestic brands (16.3%), European (14.4%), Japanese (5.4%), Korean (1.7%) and American (1.2%). At the same time, Russians' car purchase costs increased the most in relation to Korean brands — by 79.6% more than a month earlier (up to 5.5 billion rubles).

According to analysts, the April result was 24.4% less than a year ago (430.6 billion rubles in April 2024). In the first four months of 2025, the financial capacity of the market exceeded the mark of 1 trillion rubles, which is 28.8% less than in the same period last year.

The day before, it was reported that in April 2025, Chinese brands in Russia provided large discounts on cars. The average discount was 730,000 rubles (21% of the total cost), while for Russian cars it reached 330,000 rubles (19%).
