Turkish actor Halit Ergenca, who played the role of Sultan Suleiman in the TV series Magnificent Century, was sentenced to a year, 10 months and 15 days in prison in the case of the protests in Istanbul. This was reported on May 27 by the Anadolu agency.

Ergench was found guilty of giving false testimony, he himself denies guilt. At first, the court sentenced him to two years and three months in prison, but the actor's exemplary behavior during the trial, as well as the lack of early convictions, were taken into account.

"The court reduced the sentence to one year, 10 months and 15 days," the article says.

The judge clarified that the actor can appeal the decision.

On May 13, a court in France found actor Gerard Depardieu guilty in a case of harassment against two colleagues on the set. He was sentenced to one and a half years of probation with an additional two years of deprivation of civil rights, in particular, a ban on participating in elections. The actor was also added to the register of persons who have committed sexual crimes.
