Merz pointed to the prescription of the decision to lift restrictions on the range of weapons for Kiev.

The decision to lift restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine was made several months ago. This was announced on May 27 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a joint press conference with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.

"The issue of limiting the range of weapons played a certain role a few months ago. <...> This is exactly what I said yesterday, that the countries that imposed such restrictions abandoned them a long time ago. In this regard, yesterday in Berlin I spoke about what has been happening for several months," Merz said.

In his opinion, the Kiev regime has the right to use the weapons it receives outside its borders "against military targets on Russian territory."

It does not have complete analogues of the HIMARS-type MLRS, and the EU countries do not intend to share tanks.

Earlier, on May 26, Merz said that Germany, along with Britain, France and the United States, had lifted range restrictions on military supplies to Ukraine. However, later in the day, Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil noted that Germany, contrary to the Chancellor's statement, had not changed its position on arms supplies to Ukraine.
