The United States has begun to better understand Russia's position on Ukraine. This was announced on May 27 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.

"President [of the United States] Donald Trump and his staff are publicly talking about the root causes of the conflict," he said in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.

According to Ryabkov, time will tell how the real actions of the US administration will correspond to the stated intentions.

As for Russian-American relations, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation noted that positive changes are indeed being observed, as evidenced by recent bilateral contacts.

On May 15, Ryabkov said that the restoration of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States is an extremely difficult and time-consuming process. He also stressed that although the issue of Ukraine is of great importance, it is not the only factor that will be taken into account when planning contacts between the parties.

The Russian ambassador to Washington, Alexander Darchiev, said on May 9 that positive aspects had emerged in relations between the Russian Federation and the United States, but it would still take time to restore them.
