Germany reported on the failure of negotiations between the EU and the United States on anti-Russian sanctions

The European Union (EU) and the United States are no longer coordinating their actions to combat circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions, the German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) wrote on May 27, citing a report by the German Foreign Ministry.

As noted in the document, negotiations between the EU and the United States on cooperation in the fight against circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions at the meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs on May 20 suffered a crushing failure.

During the meeting, European Union Special Envoy for sanctions David O'Sullivan complained that there was a "complete cessation of transatlantic coordination" of measures to combat methods that violate restrictions against Russia. In addition, cooperation within the Group of Seven (G7) countries has also "lost momentum."
