The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Buryatia has detained in Ulan-Ude the head of the state enterprise Capital Construction Management of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia in a case of abuse of office. This was reported on May 27 on the website of the department for the region.
It is indicated that in March 2022, the suspect signed a state contract with a commercial organization for the reconstruction of buildings in the center of Ulan-Ude in the amount of over 571 million rubles. Later, in December 2024, the amount under the agreement was changed, increasing to more than 888 million rubles.
"In March 2022, the suspect, on behalf of the institution he headed, signed a state contract with a commercial organization to carry out reconstruction work on a building in the center of Ulan-Ude to house the Ulger puppet theater for a total amount of more than 571 million rubles. In December 2024, on the basis of an additional agreement, the specified contract price was changed and amounted to more than 888 million rubles," the statement said.
To increase payments to the contractor, the suspect also agreed to purchase equipment in the amount of 50 million rubles. At the same time, the supply of the same equipment was provided for in another contract. Now the man is suspected of committing a crime under paragraph "e" of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Abuse of official authority committed out of another personal interest").
"Currently, investigative actions are being carried out in the criminal case aimed at establishing the full picture of the crime and collecting evidence; searches have been conducted at the suspect's place of residence, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved," the department concluded.
Earlier, on May 20, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow arrested Sergei Ivanov, the former deputy governor of the Tambov Region, in a bribery case. As reported, the court granted the investigator's request and appointed Ivanov a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months. He is charged under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a particularly large bribe").
