A man was detained in the Amur region for illegal gold trafficking
A foreign citizen was detained in the Blagoveshchensk Municipal District for attempting to transport more than 3 kg of gold across the customs border. This was announced on May 27 by the Prosecutor's office of the Amur region on its website.
A Chinese citizen is suspected of illegally transporting "strategically important goods and resources" in the form of two gold bars across the border.
"The total weight of the two bars was 3.4 kg, which is a large amount (in accordance with the exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the value of gold is at least 30 million rubles," the agency noted.
A foreigner tried to smuggle gold under a plastic gearshift panel. For such a crime, according to Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal movement of strategically important goods and resources or cultural values on a large scale across the State border of the Russian Federation with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union), imprisonment for up to five years is provided.
Earlier, on May 26, the thief of a safe with 10 million rubles was detained in Moscow. A criminal case was opened under Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft on an especially large scale").
