The area of forest fires in Buryatia increased from 19.5 thousand to almost 37 thousand hectares per day. This was announced on May 27 by the Republican Forestry Agency on the VKontakte social network.

"According to operational data, on the morning of May 27, 37 forest fires are active in Barguzinsky, Bauntovsky, Bichursky, Yeravninsky, Zaigraevsky, Zakamensky, Kabansky, Kizhinginsky, Mukhorshibirsky, Pribaikalsky, Selenginsky, North Baikal and Tarbagataysky, covering a total area of 36,805 hectares," the agency said in a statement.

It is noted that the cause of 10 active fires was a dry thunderstorm, one fire was caused by burning peat, and two fires were caused by a broken power line. Gorenje In other cases, the cause of the fire was the careless handling of fire by people.

808 people are working to eliminate fires, 197 pieces of equipment are involved. An emergency regime is in effect in Buryatia.

Earlier, on May 26, two large fires occurred in the Irkutsk region. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to the agency, no one was injured in the incidents.
