The European Union (EU), having received a postponement of duties by US President Donald Trump, is still looking for a way to reach a mutually beneficial trade agreement. This was reported on May 26 by the Reuters news agency, citing a source familiar with the negotiations.

According to the source, Trump planned to conclude a "quick deal" that would be victorious for Washington, but his administration demanded concessions.

"The EU may consider specific conditions to understand whether they are excessive," Bernd Lange, chairman of the European Parliament's committee on Trade, told the media.

Lange added that Brussels would not agree to any demands from Washington, despite the expectations of the White House. According to him, the European Union plans to negotiate, seeking a mutually beneficial deal.

It clarifies that the EU also intends to cooperate with the United States on steel production and artificial intelligence.

The day before, Trump agreed to postpone to July 9 the imposition of duties of 50% on goods from the European Union. According to the American leader, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, asked him about it during a telephone conversation. He added that the EC intends to move on to serious negotiations on this issue.
