A criminal case was opened in Crimea after the capsizing of a ship with six passengers.

A small vessel with six people on board capsized in Balaklava in the south of Crimea due to weather conditions. This was reported on May 26 in the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (GSU IC) in the region.

The circumstances of the incident will be determined by the investigators.

"On May 25, in the marine area near Cape Aya opposite Balaklava, while providing a boat trip in adverse weather conditions, the captain-skipper capsized a small motor vessel with six passengers on board," the department said in a Telegram statement.

The participants of the boat trip were evacuated, they did not need hospitalization.

It is clarified that a criminal case has been opened on the incident under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements").

On May 11, it was reported that a boat carrying two fishermen capsized near Shchitovaya Bay in Vladivostok, one of whom died. Later it became known about an overturned boat in the area of Three Piglets Bay. Rescuers arrived at the scene and found three men in the water, they were brought ashore in satisfactory condition.
