On May 27, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova ironically commented on the statements by German Chancellor and Vice Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Lars Klingbeil about lifting restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine.

"Yes, take away their "sugar spoon" and "napkin" at last! I hope at least these two didn't fight like the Macrons (meaning French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte. — Ed.)," Zakharova noted in her Telegram channel.

Earlier, on May 26, Merz said that Germany, along with Britain, France and the United States, had lifted range restrictions on military supplies to Ukraine.

Later that day, Klingbeil noted that Germany, contrary to Merz's statement, had not changed its position on arms supplies to Ukraine.
