The leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth faction, Sergei Mironov, on Tuesday, May 27, announced his intention to develop an amendment to the draft law "On the Platform Economy." It will ask you to cancel the fee for the return of goods on marketplaces.

"Marketplaces are a huge, fast—growing market, and last year alone their turnover increased by 40%, to 9 trillion rubles. This area has developed rapidly, spontaneously, involving millions of people. The most important thing is that legislative regulation of online commerce should be provided," Mironov said in an interview with Izvestia.

According to him, regulation guarantees consumers access to high-quality and safe goods. No fakes, no dangerous and illegal products, which are now found on marketplaces. Regulation will also provide "clear rules of the game" in the relationship between online platforms and buyers, the deputy explained. In his opinion, marketplaces often dictate their terms and change them as they wish.

"A vivid example is the fee for the return of goods, which is charged to citizens. We believe that this practice is contrary to consumer rights," the politician said, adding that he was ready to introduce such an amendment to the government's bill.

Earlier, on May 15, ATOL analysts reported a halving in online sales due to Internet outages. The largest drop in sales was recorded in the Footwear category, which decreased 2.5 times. There was also a significant change in the categories of "Electronics", "Home and Garden", "Beauty and Hygiene" — 2.3 times each.
