Uzbekistan has started working on simplifying entry for citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan on internal passports for up to 30 days, the republic's Foreign Ministry told Izvestia.

"We are working on simplifying entry to the country for citizens of partner countries, including allowing visits on internal passports or ID-cards for up to 30 days. The Foreign Ministry is holding talks and preparing proposals. The timing depends on the approvals, but the country seeks to provide convenient travel, strengthening tourism and business ties," said the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

Earlier the corresponding order was given by the President of the republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Now Russian citizens need a foreign passport to enter Uzbekistan. Russians who arrived in the country for a period of more than 15 days are obliged to make a temporary registration at the place of stay in a hotel or in the passport office no later than the 15th day of stay in the country.
