- The American earned more than $40 thousand on sale of soft toys from automatic machines with a grab

American Mike Nay was able to earn more than $40,000 (more than 3.1 million rubles) by selling plush toys that he managed to win in slot machines with a claw grip. This was reported by Business Insider (BI) on May 25.
"I sell three to five plush toys a day, for an average of $20 per sale. However, I sold more exclusive, collectible plush toys for $200," the entrepreneur's words are quoted in the material.
Nay said that he became interested in vending machines during the coronavirus pandemic. It was then that he began to hone his playing skills.
"As soon as the quarantine restrictions were lifted, I returned to the game room, winning dozens of plush toys that took up a lot of space on my shelf. Around that time, I realized that these toys have great resale value," he said.
According to the American, there is a whole room in his house in which he keeps about 500 toys. All of them are in plastic bags and sorted into categories such as "Pokemon, anime, holidays, video games, candy" and others.
Nay himself treats such a side job as a retail business.
Analysts at the Moneyplace service (part of the Kontur ecosystem) told Izvestia on April 29 that Russians spent more than 4 billion rubles on anti-stress toys last year. According to the results of the study, last year the total sales of anti-stress toys on marketplaces amounted to 4.4 billion rubles, which is 81% higher than in 2023 and 126% higher than in 2022.
