The main house of the Ya.A. Rekka estate on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street in Moscow will be restored. Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina announced plans to restore the cultural heritage site of regional significance.

"The building of the early 20th century is made in the style of Moscow Art Nouveau. The restorers will have to put the old interiors and facade in order," Natalia Sergunina said.

Gustav Gelrich became the architect of the two-storey house. The building is decorated with stucco in the form of plants, flowers and leaves, and the space under the eaves is decorated with relief figures of cheetahs and masks.

The first owner of the site where the mansion is located, since 1902, was businessman Yakov Reck. However, the construction of the estate was completed only in 1903 by its new owner, hereditary honorary citizen Serafima Krasilshchikova.

In Soviet times, communal apartments were located in the building. Since the middle of the 20th century, it has housed the Egyptian Embassy. The restoration process is overseen by the Main Production and Commercial Department for the Maintenance of the Diplomatic Corps under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, which manages the building.

Since the beginning of this year, Moscow has issued more than 500 permits for the preservation of cultural heritage sites. For example, the facades of the N.A. Durasov Palace and the main house of the Narrow estate (Streshnev — Golitsyn) are now being put in order.
