One person was killed and one injured when a car overturned in the Angara region.

A foreign car overturned and caught fire on the highway in the Usolsky district of the Irkutsk region. The driver died on the spot, his passenger was taken to the hospital, according to the regional State Traffic Inspectorate.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon, May 26, on the 1825th km of the federal highway R-255 "Siberia". According to preliminary information, the 71-year-old driver of the Honda Freed exceeded the speed limit and lost control.

According to IrkutskMedia news agency, the car crashed into a bump and rolled over it. Once in the space separating oncoming traffic, the Honda caught fire.

As a result of the accident, the motorist died on the spot. His 38-year-old passenger suffered various injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police officers are conducting an investigation into the incident. All circumstances are being established.

Earlier in the day, a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV overturned on the A-350 Chita– Zabaikalsk highway – border with China. The 68-year-old driver was killed, his passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries.
