A teenage girl drowned while swimming in the Amur River in Blagoveshchensk.

In Blagoveshchensk (Amur region), a 16-year-old girl drowned while swimming in the Amur River. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The tragedy occurred on Monday evening, May 26, in the Amur River basin. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a 16-year-old girl was on the river with two friends. One of them stayed near the shore, the others swam away and began to sink.

"An eyewitness saved one of them, but they couldn't find the other one. The body of the drowned girl was recovered from the water by divers of the search and rescue squad of Blagoveshchensk," the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations says.

The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the incident. The agency also monitored the progress and results of the procedural audit, PriamurMedia news agency clarifies. All the circumstances of the minor's death are being established.

On May 24, a tragedy was reported on the Tuguztemir River in Bashkortostan. Rescuers found the body of a seven-year-old girl 100 m downstream from the place where she went under water.
