- Putin announced plans to increase the use of domestic software in all sectors

Russia will strive to expand the use of domestic software in all sectors, especially in public administration. This was announced on May 26 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with representatives of the business community of the state.
"To increase the use of software within the country. And in all sectors of the economy <...> and even more so in the field of public administration," Putin said.
The President recalled that the shortage of critically important domestic software was recognized as a vulnerability for the country back in 2022. Since then, its development and implementation have become a public policy priority. This is not only an economic issue, but also an element of Russia's national security, he noted.
According to the head of state, data protection, the stability of the digital infrastructure and the independence of the country in the face of external pressure depend on the degree of implementation of Russian software.
In addition, Putin noted that the growth of the cybersecurity industry in Russia is unique. He noted that the Russian Federation is already seizing international markets in this area.
StormWall told Izvestia on April 10 that the largest number of DDoS attacks occurred in the telecommunications sector. According to the study, in the first quarter of 2025, an increase in the number of attacks was recorded by 71% compared to the same period last year. The financial sector has seen a 36 percent increase in cyber attacks. At the beginning of the year, customers of several large banks had difficulty accessing mobile applications due to powerful DDoS attacks.
