Putin questioned Finland's ability to build nuclear icebreakers for the United States

Finnish President Alexander Stubb continues to insist on the idea of building nuclear icebreakers for the United States in the country, despite the fact that the implementation of these plans is unlikely. This was announced on May 26 by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with representatives of the business community of the state.
"Apparently, Mr. Stubb, the current president of Finland, said there in the United States that they [Finland] would build nuclear icebreakers in the United States. Can they build at least one nuclear icebreaker in Finland today?" said Putin.
He stated that the realization of such intentions is "unlikely." The Russian leader stressed that, despite this, Stubb continues to "push" Finnish products.
Putin noted that Finnish shipbuilding had successfully developed on Soviet and Russian orders, but had never been able to build a nuclear icebreaker. According to him, this requires complex technical developments, including the development of nuclear reactors and suitable materials.
On March 30, US President Donald Trump discussed the purchase of icebreakers with Stubb. The American leader stressed that the development and purchase of a large number of such vessels is "extremely necessary" for the United States.
