US President's special Envoy Steve Witkoff has denied that the Palestinian Hamas movement has agreed to a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on May 26 by Axios correspondent Barak Ravid.

"What I have seen from Hamas is disappointing and completely unacceptable," Witkoff is quoted as saying on the reporter's page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Ravid added that Witkoff had announced Israel's agreement to a temporary cease-fire and hostage exchange.

Earlier in the day, Al-Aqsa TV channel, citing sources, reported that Hamas allegedly accepted Witkoff's proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza. The agreement included the release of 10 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a 45-60-day cease-fire.
