SVO veterans made training trips to Elbrus

Veterans of the special military operation (SVO) made training trips to Elbrus at an altitude of 4.8 thousand meters. m in the framework of the "Time of the Strong" project.
Before the start of the main acclimatization exit, flowers were laid at the monument to the heroes of the defense of the Elbrus region. The monument is dedicated to the highest mountain front of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and is located at an altitude of 3.5 thousand meters.
"We are proud to be here today and to be able to pay tribute to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War," said Artyom Tumak, a veteran of the Russian Military.
The participants of the world's first group ascent of Elbrus, who plan to climb to the top on prosthetic legs, completed a cycle of training acclimatization exits and climbed to an altitude of 4.8 thousand meters above sea level.
"The purpose of the training exit is to see what will await the project participants during the ascent to Elbrus, which is scheduled for July this year. Practice in real conditions, try your hand at difficult mountain terrain and identify triggers that can increase the threat to health when climbing to the top. And even if not everyone ascends to the peak of Elbrus in July, it will already be a huge common victory," said Anton Brichevsky, a mountain guide and leader of the climbing group.
The group included not only experienced guides: the project participants were accompanied by Alexander Fokin, Deputy Chief Physician for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at the Sports Medical Clinic, and Vitaly Degtyarev, a leading prosthetician of the lower extremities at Bionics 2.0.
"Thanks to the passage of a unique, specially designed program, which the guys completed on the site of our clinic before flying to the Elbrus region, we were able to significantly improve the balanced function and coordination of the deep muscles of the trunk, which is very important for people who use prosthetic legs to move through difficult terrain," said Fokin.
In addition, the new test prosthetic sleeves, which were made in advance for the project participants, required special attention in the conditions of climbing to a height. The prosthetics were adapted right during training and the main acclimatization exit.
"Technically, we are ready for any possible situations at altitude. In early summer, we will produce new casings for the project participants who have been selected based on the results of this stage, the shape and design of which will be ideally suited for climbing," said Degtyarev.
The next stage of the project is the summer preparation for the storming of Elbrus. Six veterans of the SVO will take part in it, who will receive admission based on the results of a series of training sessions and a basic acclimatization exit.
All efforts of doctors and prosthetics before the assault will be directed to the physical, psychological and technical training of the group.
for a successful ascent to an altitude of 5,642 m above sea level, which is scheduled for July 2025.
The project is organized by the My Medical Center Group of Companies and Bionics 2.0. The initiative is being implemented with the support of the Defenders of the Fatherland State Foundation and KAVKAZ.RF JSC.
On May 20, it was reported that the veterans of the SVR, who plan to conquer the top of Mount Elbrus on prosthetic legs, completed the stage of physical preparation for the ascent. It was noted that the participants were trained using pressure therapy, cryotherapy, balance therapy and pressure therapy.
