Hamas agrees to Whitkoff's cease-fire proposal in Gaza

The Palestinian movement Hamas has agreed to the proposal of the special envoy of the President of the United States, Steve Witkoff, for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. This was reported on May 26 by Al-Aqsa TV channel, citing sources.
"Hamas has agreed to the proposal of the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Witkoff, which emphasizes the need for a permanent cease—fire in the Gaza Strip," the newspaper's Telegram channel clarifies.
Earlier, Witkoff proposed to the Israeli administration and Hamas a new ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip, which provides for the release of 10 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and 45-60 days of ceasefire.
On May 20, it became known that Israel was withdrawing the senior negotiating team from Doha due to the refusal of the Palestinian Hamas movement to accept Witkoff's plan to free the hostages. It was reported that the Israeli side agreed to Witkoff's proposal, but Hamas continues to adhere to its refusal.
