Patrushev announced the rapidly growing threats from NATO

Threats from NATO are rapidly increasing. This was announced on May 26 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, at a security meeting in Ust-Luga on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Today, the threats emanating from NATO are rapidly increasing, with the efforts of which the architecture of international security built after World War II has been dismantled," TASS quoted Patrushev as saying.
The Chairman of the Maritime Board noted that key arms control agreements had been destroyed, and the presence of NATO forces in the Baltic region had increased. He stressed that the alliance is increasing its naval, combat and intelligence capabilities.
Patrushev recalled that in the spring of 2024, the alliance held the largest "Staunch Defender – 2024" exercises since the Cold War, in which about 90 thousand military personnel participated. According to him, NATO paid special attention to the naval component — more than 50 ships were involved in the maneuvers.
Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department of European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on March 13 that NATO, as it expands, poses additional threats to Russia's security in the Arctic. At the moment, military and political tensions in the region are growing. It was noted that due to NATO's actions in the region, there is a risk of creating new challenges and threats to the security of the Russian Federation and its national interests.
Last December, Patrushev said that tensions in the Arctic region were growing as a result of NATO's actions.
