Among the Russians surveyed, 53% of respondents are ready to move to a small town or rural area for more affordable housing. Of these, 26% plan to move in the short term, and 74% — only if they have a stable job and a well-developed infrastructure. This is stated in the results of analysts of the <url> financial marketplace, which were reviewed by Izvestia on May 27.

Another 6% of the survey participants have already changed their place of residence, while the remaining 41% do not consider moving even under economically advantageous conditions.

Experts have found that the difference in the value of real estate significantly affects migration sentiment. Thus, 62% of respondents consider housing prices in megacities to be excessively high and disproportionate to the quality of life, 31% rate them as acceptable, taking into account infrastructure and opportunities. At the same time, 58% compared the cost of 1 sq. m. We looked at proposals in district centers and small towns in our city and came to the conclusion that for a similar budget they can purchase housing of twice the size, and in some cases even with a plot of land.

"An assessment of living conditions in megacities revealed a high level of fatigue and stress among citizens: 34% of respondents consider such an environment to be a source of constant stress, 23% consider it as a forced compromise for the sake of professional growth or education, 14% — as a familiar but inconvenient form of living. At the same time, 29% of respondents believe that only a large city provides real opportunities for career development," the study says.

Among the key factors influencing the decision to move from megacities, Russians named the desire for a more peaceful and secluded environment (43%), the availability of high-speed Internet and access to online services and deliveries (29%), convenient transport accessibility (13%), a well-developed healthcare system (10%) and the opportunity to purchase land plot (5%).

However, not everyone is ready to decide on the move. The main barrier for 39% of respondents is the inability to switch to remote work, without which the move loses financial stability. Another 23% admit that they are held back by fear of change and emotional attachment to their familiar environment. For 20%, strong family and friendly ties become a stumbling block, while 18% fear that they simply will not have enough basic infrastructure in their new places, from medicine to transport accessibility.

Earlier, on May 16, it was reported that one in five Russians would like to put up a cottage for sale in order to buy an apartment in the capital. At the same time, one in three (33%) estimates their suburban real estate in the amount of 6 million to 10 million rubles, according to the results of a study by Level Group.
