Russia is noticeably ahead of European countries in terms of home Internet speed. This was announced on May 26 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a specialized strategic session.

He said that currently about 39 million people use home Internet services in Russia. Most of them have speeds of 100 Mbps or higher.

"According to experts, this figure is significantly higher than in some eurozone countries," TASS quoted Mishustin as saying.

In addition, the head of government also recalled that Russia faces the task of providing citizens with the opportunity to connect to high-speed Internet at home in the next five years.

"We are talking about creating conditions for building a modern secure infrastructure, implementing advanced solutions necessary to provide communication services to people, businesses and government agencies in all regions," he said.

Mishustin specified that this will allow organizing mobile networks in populated areas so that the quality of services is at a high level everywhere.

On April 23, it became known that the Moscow–St. Petersburg railway was fully provided with Internet. It was clarified that signal amplifiers and transmitter modules were installed in the cars. Voice communication is now available on 99% of the entire route. The signal stays stable even at speeds up to 250 km/h.
