New Movement Festival of Young Cinema announces non-competitive programs

The New Movement Festival of Young Cinema, which will be held for the second time in Veliky Novgorod from May 29 to June 2, 2025, announces non—competitive programs - special screenings of the bright film debuts of recent years, panorama, the war of the cause of the young and morning cinema, giving a charge for the whole day, will be held within the framework of the screening.
As noted by the festival's program director, film critic Vadim Rutkovsky, this year there are world premieres of potential rental hits, a special screening related to Veliky Novgorod, and a panorama of the most high-profile debuts of the year. "The out—of-competition program is everything, everywhere and at once; what gives the festival volume. The most important part is a large collection of short films, literally the very future of cinema that we talk about so much and are so worried about. There are many novelties, many films opened by other festivals, films for the youngest viewers, available both in the cinema hall and outdoors. Air is the key word, hopefully it will be enough."
A special place in the program is occupied by the retrospective "War is the work of the young", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory. The debut films of outstanding Soviet directors tell about the war sincerely and honestly. "The anniversary retrospective provides an opportunity to see how the military-historical theme, which became the starting point for future prominent masters, affected their further work," comments Vadim Rutkovsky.
Alexander Dronov, Acting Governor of the Novgorod Region:
"The non—competitive programs of the New Movement are a chance for the audience of the city to get in touch with a surprisingly different cinema. Funny and serious, new and classic. The retrospective on the 80th anniversary of the Victory is not just a memory, but also an important conversation about the present. These films show how young directors at that time conceptualized the war, how it shaped their view, their handwriting, and their inner truth. Through their first works, we see what they wanted to convey to us, both about the past and the present. It is very necessary today."
