Degtyarev handed over a new boat to the Russian national water skiing team
On May 26, Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation and head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), handed over a new Mastercraft ProStar boat to the Russian water skiing team in Moscow.
Thanks to the boat, it will be possible to increase the level of preparation of athletes for international competitions. It has a unique configuration, which was specially requested by the Russian Water Skiing Federation.
"The national team has not received new boats from the state since the 1980s. The Federation applied to the Ministry of Sports, we funded a grant, and finally the guys received such a new device. It's in a rare package, but that's exactly what they asked for. I am sure he will serve for many years," the minister said.
According to him, the development of infrastructure is extremely important for the growth of the results of the national team, which consists of almost 100 people and 18 coaches.
"They will need at least one more boat for other disciplines so that all our guys improve and take prizes and first places at international competitions. I am sure that they will bring new medals and victories to Russia," Degtyarev emphasized.
During the event, a presentation of domestic sports developments took place. A new Mir wakeboard and an Anchor wetsuit were demonstrated. The Minister noted the importance of own production for the sports industry.
"In total, 22 thousand athletes are engaged in water skiing in Russia. With amateurs, of course, much more. When I was governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, I regularly watched hundreds of people working on the Amur River every summer," Degtyarev said.
Earlier, on May 12, Degtyarev spoke about the reasons why Russia continues to contribute to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), despite the sanctions. According to him, this is necessary so that Russian athletes can participate in world-class competitions in the future.
