- The Polish Foreign Ministry sent a protest note to Russia for the dismantling of bas-reliefs near Tver

The Polish Foreign Ministry has sent a note of protest to the Russian side over the dismantling of the bas-reliefs of Polish military awards at the Mednoye memorial complex in the Tver region. This was announced on May 26 by the head of the department, Radoslaw Sikorski, on the radio station RMF24.
"A diplomatic note has already been sent," said the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.
On May 16, the Mednoye Memorial Complex announced the dismantling of the bas-reliefs of Polish military awards at the Polish Military Cemetery, as they were installed in violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation. Later, Sikorsky accused the Russian Federation of dismantling the bas-reliefs. At the same time, Poland has been dismantling monuments since 2017, which, according to the Polish authorities, are associated with communism or the totalitarian system.
On May 22, Maria Zakharova called an attempt by the Polish Foreign Ministry to once again teach Russia a lesson in "correct history" inappropriate and hypocritical. She stressed that Warsaw should pay attention to its own territories, where several hundred Soviet and Russian military memorial sites have been destroyed, as well as acts of vandalism over the preserved monuments to the soldiers of the USSR.
Mikhail Vanin, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on April 25 that over 100 cases of vandalism on military monuments had been identified in Europe over the past year, with the largest number reported in Poland and Lithuania. At the same time, according to him, the authorities of Poland and the Czech Republic practically do not respond to such events, often simply not responding to requests from the Russian Federation.
