Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Cambodia Kyet Rit signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This was announced on May 26 on the official website of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Cambodia continues to expand in various areas, including political, economic, military, and cultural components. Bilateral contacts in the field of justice are also on the rise," Krasnov said.

According to him, the signed document should strengthen the legal basis for joint work between Russia and Cambodia.

"New horizons of cooperation are opening up before us, we are ready to expand them and cooperate on any issues of mutual interest. We are absolutely open to dialogue," the Prosecutor General added.

It is reported that, according to the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation, the countries undertake to strive to achieve practical results "in the field of combating crime, protecting human rights and freedoms."

On May 24, it became known that Russia had extradited Cambodian citizen Heng Sithi, accused of extorting more than $2 million. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, Cambodia issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on December 3, 2024 and put him on the wanted list.
