The number of captured fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the front line has increased recently. This was stated by the head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

According to him, a significant part of the prisoners got to the front line as a result of forced mobilization. At the same time, he noted, there are also those who voluntarily went to the war zone.

"These are the most dangerous criminals," Pushilin stressed.

On May 23, Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov, Deputy Head of the main military-political Directorate of the Russian Defense Ministry, said that the Akhmat special forces unit had never been tasked with capturing foreign mercenaries fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Lieutenant General added that this does not apply to ordinary soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are ordered to be captured if they are ready to stop fighting.
