Pashinyan allowed the Armenian constitution to be changed for peace with Azerbaijan


The Constitution of Armenia may be amended in order to achieve peace in the conflict with Azerbaijan. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on May 26 during the Yerevan Dialogue International Forum.
"If the Constitutional Court decides that the agreement does not comply with the legislation of Armenia, then I will initiate amendments to the constitution," the portal quotes him as saying. Trend.az .
The Prime Minister stressed that the opportunity to conclude a peace agreement should not be missed.
He also clarified that a vote on the adoption of a new constitution could take place in 2027. Pashinyan called the amendment of the constitution part of the political agenda of the government of the country.
At a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan on May 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed Russia's readiness to assist the Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization. The foreign ministers also agreed to step up efforts to implement the capabilities of the 3+3 regional cooperation platform.
