The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has filed a lawsuit to return the property of the former mayor of Vladivostok, Vladimir Nikolaev, to the state. Information about the relevant claim of the department was published on the website of the Leninsky District Court of the city on May 26.

The lawsuit was filed as part of the control over the expenses of persons who hold government positions. The defendants also include the sister of the ex-mayor, State Duma deputy Victoria Nikolaeva, and a number of Vladivostok companies, including Atlantics LLC, an organization founded by Nikolayev. The founder of a number of companies from the list of defendants is the mother of ex-mayor Raisa Nikolaev.

Later, the head of the joint press service of the courts of Primorye, Elena Oleneva, told RIA Novosti that Nikolaev's assets were arrested at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Nikolaev served as the mayor of Vladivostok from 2004 to 2008. In 2007, he was sentenced to 4.5 years probation for abuse and abuse of authority, and he was also deprived of the right to hold senior positions in state and municipal institutions for three years. The verdict came into force on February 20, 2008, and Nikolayev has since resigned. In September of the same year, the deadline was changed to a real one.
