The FSB eliminated 62 clandestine weapons workshops in two months.


Law enforcement officers stopped the activities of 172 illegal gunsmiths from 58 regions of the country. This was announced on Monday, May 26, by the FSB's Public Relations Center.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and Rosgvardiya, suppressed the illegal activities of 172 residents from 58 regions of the country," the report says.
According to the intelligence service, in March and April 2025, operational search activities and investigative actions were carried out at the residential addresses of the suspects. As a result, 404 Russian and foreign-made firearms were seized from illegal traffic, including machine guns, submachine guns, pistols, revolvers, rifles, carbines, shotguns, as well as grenades and fuses.
In addition, more than 136 kg of explosives, including ammonium, rdx, plasticite, TNT and gunpowder, were found and seized. The total amount of seized ammunition amounted to over 56,000 rounds of various calibers.
The FSB Central Control Center also announced the liquidation of 62 clandestine workshops where weapons were being upgraded and ammunition was being manufactured.
On April 25, police officers detained a 32-year-old resident of Khabarovsk with a live grenade and a sniper rifle scope. During a search of his friend's apartment, three sawn-off shotguns of various calibers, a homemade carbine, 14 cartridges for hunting weapons, as well as the body of a training grenade and educational imitation fuses for fuses were seized.
