Polish producers opposed the import of cucumbers from Russia due to record shipments in 2025. This was announced by the head of the Polish Association of producers of tomatoes and cucumbers in greenhouses in Poland, Lukasz Gwizdal, in an interview with the O2 portal.
According to him, Polish production, unlike Russian production, does not have access to cheap energy resources that are needed to heat greenhouses. Therefore, from the point of view of Poles, competition with Russian suppliers is "unfair".

"Together we have worked out a position according to which a good solution would be to convince the EU authorities to impose an embargo on the export of cucumbers and tomatoes from Russia and Belarus. A decision on this matter may be made within the next month or two," said Gvizdal.
On May 20, it was reported that in March Russia increased exports of cucumbers to Poland to a maximum of 2.7 million euros in four years. Polish companies have purchased 2.1 thousand tons of products from Russian suppliers. Compared to February of the same year, sales increased 2.5 times, and by 25% compared to March 2024.
