Colombia will join the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) this year. Hector Arenas Neira, ambassador of the Latin American country in Moscow, told Izvestia.
"The decision has been made. Our president met with BRICS bank president Dilma Rousseff in Shanghai. Colombia will join very soon because this bank is open to all countries. We don't have to be part of BRICS to join it. Even on the contrary, the bank gives access to economic resources, loans for infrastructure projects. I don't know the details, but it will happen soon," the diplomat said.
The launch of the process of Colombia's accession to the New BRICS Development Bank was announced by the country's President Gustavo Petro on May 16.
