The U.S. national team beat the Swiss team in overtime and won the Hockey World Cup for the first time since 1960. The finalists' meeting was held in Stockholm on May 25.

The game ended with the victory of the U.S. national team in overtime with a score of 1:0. 27-year-old Teige Thompson scored the winning goal in the 63rd minute. Goalkeeper Leonardo Genoni scored for the Swiss, who was voted the most valuable player of the Ice Hockey World Cup by accredited media.

The U.S. national team won the World Cup for the third time in its history. The Americans became champions for the first time in 1933, and for the second time in 1960. In addition, American hockey players have won the silver medal in this tournament nine times.

The Swiss won five silver and eight bronze medals at the Ice Hockey World Cup, and also reached the finals in five tournaments (in 1935, 2013, 2018, 2024 and 2025), but never won gold.

The Swedish national team won the bronze medals at the Ice Hockey World Cup, beating Denmark 6-2. The meeting took place on May 25 at Avicii Arena in Stockholm. Thanks to the victory, the Swedish national team was able to become the bronze medalist of these competitions for the second time in a row. For Denmark, reaching the top four was the first time in history.
