Investigators have opened a criminal case into a fire that occurred at a shopping mall in Korolev. This was announced on Sunday, May 25, by the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow region.

"After the fire is extinguished, investigators and criminologists of the Investigative Committee will begin to inspect the scene," the agency said in a Telegram channel.

It is noted that the case was opened under the article on violation of fire safety requirements (Part 1 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to preliminary data, the cause of the incident could be a malfunction or overload of electrical wiring.

The fire in the mall occurred earlier in the day. It was clarified that there are cafes, karaoke and shops inside the shopping center where the incident occurred. Later, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire was localized on an area of 250 square meters. m.
