The buffer zone may be expanded if the West continues to provide military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on Sunday, May 25, by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

To his post on the social network X (ex. Twitter), he attached a video showing almost the entire Ukrainian territory as a buffer zone, with the exception of the western part of the country.

On May 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the creation of a buffer security zone along the border of Russia and Ukraine, which is currently being implemented by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
