There was no simultaneous interpretation during the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump. This was announced on May 25 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, answering a question from journalist Pavel Zarubin.

"The president hears the voice of his counterpart, that is, he hears Trump's voice, and then the translator translates," Peskov said, his response was published on the correspondent's Telegram channel.

The Kremlin's official representative also stressed that Putin understands English well and can "shoot the first information" without the help of an interpreter.

Putin and Trump had a two-hour telephone conversation on May 19. During the conversation, the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States discussed, among other things, the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The Russian leader called the conversation informative, frank and useful.
