International students at Harvard University are afraid of losing their visa and being banned from re-entering the United States due to the decision of the administration of US President Donald Trump to ban the admission of students from other countries. CNN reported this on May 25, citing the co-chairman of the Harvard Student Council, Abdullah Shahid Siala.

Earlier in the day, Trump demanded that Harvard University provide data on international students. In his post on the Truth Social network, he stressed that 31% of university students are foreigners. He called the request for data reasonable, as the United States allocates "billions of dollars" to Harvard.

The American leader noted that some of the foreign students come from unfriendly countries that do not pay for the education of their students. The US president also called on the university to stop demanding funding from the government.

"Harvard has $52 million, use it and stop asking the federal government to keep giving you money," Trump wrote.

As CNN pointed out, thousands of international students are scared by the lack of specifics about their legal status after Harvard University lost its certification for admitting students from other countries.

After the Trump administration's decision, Harvard University charged her with 10 counts, including violations of the Administrative Procedures Act and the first Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on freedom of speech and assembly. However, students continue to fear losing the opportunity to study at the university.

"At the moment, I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend next semester or not," Syal said.

On May 22, the head of the US Department of Homeland Security, Kristy Noem, announced that Harvard University had lost its certification for admitting international students. She added that all international students who are currently studying at Harvard should transfer to other educational institutions.

On May 23, the Bloomberg news agency reported that Harvard University had sued the administration of US President Donald Trump over its decision to ban the institution from accepting international students. According to the agency, such a decision by the Trump administration deals a serious blow to Harvard and escalates the government's struggle with elite colleges to an unprecedented level.
