More than half of Americans noted the negative impact on their family budget of the duties imposed by US President Donald Trump on other countries. The relevant survey data is provided by Bloomberg on May 24.

"The majority of American adults (56%) said that their family budget would have been in better shape if Trump's tariffs had not been introduced," the article says.

About 52% of the respondents noted that the promised economic benefits, in their opinion, will not pay off their economic costs. Approximately 49% of respondents reported that they expect the tariffs to have negative effects on the country's economy.

At the same time, according to the survey, 69% of Americans expect an increase in prices for everyday goods, which, in general, as the agency noted, Trump himself admitted, saying that American children may have "two dolls instead of 30," but they, according to the US president, may be a couple of dollars. more expensive than usual.

The survey was conducted from May 8 to May 10 among 2.1 thousand Americans, with a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points.

Trump said on May 23 that it was very difficult to trade with the European Union (EU), and therefore he recommended that trade duties of 50% be imposed on the countries of the union from June 1. He clarified that it is difficult for Washington to conduct trade with the EU due to powerful trade barriers, value added tax (VAT), unjustified lawsuits against American companies and other reasons.
