The heads of European countries plan to purchase large quantities of weapons from the United States in order to send them to Ukraine. This was reported by Bloomberg on May 24, citing sources.

It is noted that without Washington's participation, Europe will not be able to independently continue providing military assistance to Kiev, since the EU countries do not have the required arsenals or the ability to produce weapons.

According to the agency's interlocutors, US President Donald Trump is "moving away" from the Ukrainian conflict, as the White House rejected EU calls to put pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin by strengthening sanctions against Moscow in order to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine.

According to the sources of the publication, it is planned that European countries will purchase more American systems for their further shipment to Kiev.

"The idea is that if Trump refuses to supply American weapons to Ukraine, Europe will do it," the publication says.

Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Berlin Chamber of Deputies from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, told Izvestia that European politicians intend to support Ukraine and continue the conflict because it is a business for them.
