Slovakia has the right to demand financial compensation from Ukraine after the assistance provided to the country in the amount of more than € 3 billion. This was reported on May 24 by the TASR news agency, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, the Slovak National Party called on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico at a meeting of the Council of the European Union (EU) to take the initiative for European countries to gain access to some of the minerals of the Ukrainian side.

"If Ukraine transfers all of its mineral wealth to the United States, Ukraine will have nothing to repay for its assistance to European states," said Zuzana Shkoptsova, director of the office of the party's chairman.

She also added that Washington's exclusive rights to mineral resources are "illogical and unethical" in relation to Kiev. In her opinion, if the American side can rely on Ukraine's resources, then the EU countries can also claim such compensation.

Earlier, on May 8, Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced that the Verkhovna Rada had ratified the agreement with the United States on mineral resources. According to him, 338 deputies voted for the ratification of the agreement with the United States, that is, the decision was made unanimously, without abstentions.
