The case of the terrorist attack was initiated after the arson of the police department in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, investigators have opened a criminal case into the commission of a terrorist act after the arson of a police station on Vasilyevsky Island. This was reported on May 24 in the main Investigation Department (GSU IC) in the region.

"The investigation Department for the Vasileostrovsky district of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the city of St. Petersburg has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act")," the Telegram channel says.

Currently, investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier in the day, law enforcement authorities detained an alleged arsonist at the St. Petersburg police department. According to the suspect, an unknown person informed her that her personal account at Gosuslugi had been hacked and loans had been issued with it, and money had been transferred to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Then the unknown man offered to set fire to the police building to repay the debt.
