Russia has extradited a man accused of extorting more than $2 million to Cambodia.


Russia has extradited Cambodian citizen Heng Sithi, who is accused of extorting more than $2 million from the victim. This was announced on May 24 by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
"According to the documents submitted, in the period from November 17 to November 22, 2024, in the territory of the Kingdom of Cambodia, he extorted funds in the amount of $ 2 million from the victim using the Internet," the agency's website said.
It is clarified that Heng Sithi is charged under Articles 372, 374 of the Criminal Code of the Kingdom of Cambodia ("Blackmail with aggravating circumstances"). All this time he was in St. Petersburg.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, Cambodia issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on December 3, 2024 and put him on the wanted list.
The Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in cooperation with the National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol of the Russian Interior Ministry handed over the accused to Cambodian colleagues at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport.
On April 25, the press service of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office announced that three Azerbaijani citizens who were put on the international wanted list had been extradited from Russia to their homeland. It is specified that the men are suspected of crimes committed on the territory of Azerbaijan. They evaded the investigation and fled, as a result of which law enforcement officers put them on the international wanted list.
