US President Donald Trump has signed a decree on the start of construction of 10 new nuclear reactors in the country by 2030, which will independently ensure the energy consumption of the United States. This was announced on May 23 on the website of the White House press service.

"The Ministry of Energy will prioritize assistance in increasing the capacity of existing nuclear reactors by 5 GW and the construction of 10 new large reactors by 2030," the statement said.

The head of the US Department of Energy was also instructed to ensure the provision of resources for restarting closed nuclear power plants (NPP), increasing the capacity of existing ones and completing the construction of those nuclear power plants that were suspended.

Alexandri Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy of South American Brazil, announced on May 13 that Brazil, together with Rosatom State Corporation, will begin construction of small nuclear power plants in the near future. According to him, Rosatom is currently the only company in the world that has small nuclear reactors in commercial use.
